Q: It is great that you produce videos. We could do the same at our home or office. What is different about your service?
A: Yes, you are correct, you too could do a lot of the video production process yourself. Increasingly exciting new products and software is available.

The difference with us is that we know that in order to deliver an even more professional finish you have to consider the following: Techniques to engage the viewer, message construction and scripting, use of consist images together with advice on brand impact, rapid editing techniques with professional level tools and using high quality equipment. Combine the latter with our skills with social media and multiple formats for online access, for example, podcasting, dedicated website hosting, effective streaming techniques and website integration, we are confident that your viewers / potential clients will be impressed and you will save time too and cost too. We believe our rates are competitive with the bonus of giving advice on route to your final version.

Q: What is your project process for developing Videos online?
A: Good question as preparation is key before pressing/hitting the record button. Our project process for video production incorporates logistical and directional planning. We explore the message behind the movie and work with our clients to recommend the best impact, typically invoking content piloting and previews.

From an online perspective, in the attention economy website visitors will ‘bounce off’ sites within seconds unless the video production is inclusive and inspiring.

Q: Is there a ratio you use for recording time to reaching the end product?
A: What you are referring to really is about how dynamic and flexible are we from the time of recording to reaching the final version. Many companies suggest a 1:5 ration, i.e: for every hour of recorded footage it will take approximately 5 times the recording time for editing.

However, for very short video promos, for example 1 minute, this does not imply simply 5minutes of editing! Editing is just one element of the production process. Effective editing can consist of many video clips transitioned with suitable titles and appropriate animation.

The project must be considered from the context of understanding practical / logistical boundaries and procedural elements, for example use of location and consent.

Q: What is different about online video production.
A: Common elements for both on-line and off-line video production are planning, editing, previewing, refining and finalizing.

Specifically for online production we have to consider areas such as web positioning, play-ability (appropriate size for playback device), output format and bandwidth usage (especially if the video will be offered as a downloadable items, also known as a Video asset). Together we plan these items to assure an effective video is produced. We also recommend ways in which the video asset can be re-used and replenished to keep the message fresh, for example, adapting as a brand change.

And will I be charged the same, or will the price be reduced.

A: The rate card does offer a pure editing service which is less than an inclusive package. The rate is charged on an hourly basis. NB We cannot guarantee the quality of your recording but will try our best to reduce any inherited sound.

Q2: How will the finished audio product be delivered to me on completion? Is it possible for the final product to be converted onto a CD.

A: A number of formats are available. Typically .wav and .mp3 are provided. In the case of the latter, we also apply ID3 tags to ensure that Meta data (information about data) will be both resident in the file structure and for copyright information purposes.

CD releases in CD-R or .MP3 format can be provided. We will keep all masters for additional back-up and archiving purposes.

Q3: If the audio content is provided by my company, can audio voice-over be translated into different languages.

A: Yes, we offer both a transcription service and translation service, for example: Hindi, Urdu, English, Portuguese, French and many other languages – regional accents are respected and therefore, we showcase a number of options before you finalise.

Q4: I would like an audio message to be posted on my webpage. Do you provide the audio plug-ins as well for the audio to be uploaded on the site.

A: We work with Open source web solutions but also have a dedicated web team. Therefore, we can advise and source plug-ins for playing, for example an audio segment. For example, Joomla and WordPress are two open source content management engines for web and blogging sites, respectively. We have delivered a number of projects where seamless playing of client generated content has been integrated using reliable (secure) and supportable plug-ins.

Q5: Are there a special types of equipment your technician uses for recording and editing. Would I need to provide any minor equipment for quality recording.

A: You can select an in-studio service (you come to us) or a remote option (equipment with or without a recording technician). If we visit you for a recording we will typically bring along our portable studio with powered microphones.

Q1 : What is e-Learning ?
A: We found some great definitions from educationalist’s, researchers and practioners, for example:
*Electronic learning (or e-Learning or eLearning) is a type of Technology supported education/learning (TSL) where the medium of instruction is …
[Read More]

* Learning conducted via electronic media, especially via the Internet…
[Read More]

* Any learning that utilizes a network (LAN, WAN or Internet) for delivery, interaction, or facilitation. This would include distributed learning, distance learning (other than pure correspondence )…
[Read More]

Q2: What are some of the interactive features that your company can include in the e-learning module
A: We have expertise in developing quality content, also known as Assets. For example, video, images, text scripts, audio (inc music loops) and voice-over audio. Using a variety of tools we can also develop screen based simulations and quizzes with hot-spots to verify user responses.

Q3: What is a Learning Management System and how does it work with e-Learning Modules?
A: There are many LMSs on the market. The most popular and standards orientated share the potential of interoperability. An LMS can be considered as a mothership! i.e: containing eLearning modules that can be allocated to users. Tutors or Corporate training / Human Resource development staff can both allocate and track specific data about the use of each module, for example, time, completion and scores achieved. E-Modules must be ‘wrapped’ in a standard, for example: SCORM…

Q4: What is SCORM ?
A: SCORM is a set of technical standards for developing e-learning software products. SCORM tells programmers or eLearning module assemblers how to write their code or learning unit so that it can “play well” with other e-learning software. Specifically, SCORM governs how online learning content and Learning Management Systems (LMSs) communicate with each other. SCORM does not speak to instructional design or any other pedagogical concern, it is purely a technical standard. A typical scenario will be to develop an e-Learning module and then ‘burn’ or compile (inc: instructions on what data to pass to the LMS, for example: Score, completion status, time spent on module) it with a SCORM wrapper. Once the compilation is complete the e-Learning module can be allocated to a learner through the LMS, where the module will actually reside.

Q5: What do you mean by an Integrated solution ?
A: With a Learning Management System it will often include a registration process. In addition, often pre-assessments are performed. Good integration often involves the use of technical standards such as Webservices so that common access, for example: avoiding numerous user name and passwords and common data storage.

Q6: What is an e-Portfolio?
A: We recommend some great definitions can be viewed and further understood from:
* An electronic portfolio, also known as an e-portfolio or digital portfolio, is a collection of electronic evidence assembled and managed by a user …
[Read More]

*  A digital version of the teacher’s professional portfolio…

* An electronic record of specialist training, updated and accessible through the internet, it records details of achievement in the AKT and CSA and …
Web Q1: I could develop my own site using a variety of menu driven tools and transferring files to a server. Tell me about what you offer that is different?
A: Firstly you are right, there are lots of commercial tools or software that you can buy to develop your own website and today Internet Service Providers also provide menu driven and template (standardized) layouts for a website. We suggest that before parting with any money you consider what you want the website to do. If what you have in mind for your website is for it to ‘act’ as the cornerstone / driver of information updates, you will need to consider a database approach to facilitate dynamic and remote updates, i.e: managing your content through what is called a Content Management System (CMS).

Web Q2: Tell me more about the advantages of a content management system ?
A: The most obvious reason is that your website will be easier to keep up to date. Dependant upon the type of update, for example: new image or changing text, adding new content will not involve the complete overhaul of a site. Websites also work well when the content is kept fresh and you deploy ‘feeds’ (information about what is changing on your site). Your site can also benefit from search engine friendly page names, eventually helping you rise amongst searches for your product, services or personal profile (inc: ranking amongst other competitors).

Web Q3: What kind of functions can you offer with a good CMS?
A: There are hundreds of free modules available that plug into existing content management systems adding complex programming features. Some of the modules available include:

Site search
